Former President Jonathan's residence is destroyed by flood

The Otuoke mansion of the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, in the Ogbia Local Government Area of the State, has been completely destroyed by the raging flood that has wracked most of the nation and nearly all of Bayelsa State.

The Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, bemoaned the extent of destruction caused by what he called a “assault by natural disaster” on the livelihood of Bayelsans when visiting the former President’s hometown to inspect the situation on Friday.

The Governor assured the populace of the State government’s commitment to setting up machinery to provide relief supplies and medical aid to flood victims after revealing that Otuoke, the community that houses a Federal University, had been submerged and the majority of the locals had been displaced, including Jonathan.

The governor visited Jonathan’s mother, Eunice, while expressing sympathy for Jonathan, who he claimed is now also internally displaced as a result of the flood.

However, Diri enlisted the aid of well-meaning Bayelsans, corporate entities, and the federal government to help the State get out of the deplorable condition it is currently in.
