Governor Sim Fubara visits location of the fire that occured last night at Aleto, Eleme area near Indorama Petrochemicals Limited
Governor Fubara responded swiftly upon receiving information about the tragic fire incident on Friday night, immediately dispatching security agencies to intervene. Expressing deep sorrow, he extended his condolences to the families who lost loved ones and vehicles in the inferno.
“I was informed about the fire incident on Friday night by the MD of Indorama, and I promptly alerted the security agencies to intervene. It’s truly an unfortunate situation, and our hearts go out to those affected by this tragedy,” stated Governor Fubara.
Assessing the aftermath of the incident, Governor Fubara observed a significant number of vehicles destroyed and lives lost. He has instructed the security agencies to provide a comprehensive report to aid in evaluating the situation fully and determining the necessary support for bereaved families and mitigation efforts for losses incurred.
Accompanied by Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Uche Nwafor, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of caution for commuters on the East-West road, citing the precarious state of the road. He also noted that the disaster could have been prevented if motorists had exercised proper behavior.

The disaster, caused by a petrol-laden tanker catching fire at approximately 7:30 pm, resulted in tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to numerous vehicles.
