Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has reportedly returned to Nigeria after his three-month medical leave in Germany.

Governor Akeredolu was said to have secretly returned to the country on Wednesday.

The governor embarked on a 21-day leave on June 7 and was expected to return on July 6.

His leave was extended following the advice of his doctors at an undisclosed German hospital.

“He [Akeredolu] is in Ibadan (Oyo State capital) currently but will leave for Ondo anytime from now because he wants to get back to work as soon as possible,” a family source told SaharaReporters.

“I can’t say much about his state of health but I understand that he is willing to return to work. I’m sure the Acting Governor will brief him by tomorrow (Friday) or Monday latest and hand over the affairs of the Ondo back to him,” the source added.

Akeredolu’s deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been standing in as acting governor since he left the country.
