The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru-Bago, expressed deep sorrow over the tanker explosion in Essa village, Katcha Local Government Area, which claimed the lives of 48 people and 50 cows. The incident has been described by the governor as devastating.
In a statement released by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Umaru-Bago said, “The loss is colossal; it is quite saddening.” He further emphasized that the situation was both painful and unfortunate.
Speaking to PulseNets, the governor extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and those who lost property. He also assured that the Niger State government, through the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) and other relevant bodies, had already been mobilized for rescue operations at the scene.
