Gunmen Attack Adamawa State Police Headquarters

Nigerian Police teams reportedly shoot each other after mistaking themselves for IPOB members

Unidentified gunmen have attacked the Adamawa State Police Headquarters in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, in the early hours of Wednesday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the attack but said things were under control.

Nguroje said, “The attack was repelled, but the identities of those behind it was unknown.”

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that the attackers were military personnel on a revenge mission following the alleged killing of a military officer by the police.

As of press time, it could not be ascertained if military personnel were involved. However, the police said investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the attack and those behind it.
