Hope rises for Banky W, Obanikoro as tribunal voids victory of LP’s Attah

PDP primary: Banky W delighted after winning Eti-Osa Federal Constituency ticket

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Lagos has nullified the election of the Labour Party’s candidate for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Hon. Thaddeus Attah.

The tribunal on Monday, September 12, declared the elections inconclusive and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election within 90 days in 33 polling units where elections were not conducted.

The latest ruling came after Bankole Wellington (Banky W) of the PDP and the APC’s Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro filed petitions to challenge the elections of Feb. 25th, 2023.

Challenging Attah’s victory, Banky W had argued that the respondent was not qualified to contest the election and that the election was invalid because of corrupt practices and non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
