Renowned Niger Delta high life singer, Ikesima Brown, and five other members of her band have died in a fatal car crash.
The accident occurred on Sunday, June 11, along the Abuja-Lokoja road. Ikesima Brown, Joseph Ekeremieye, Tuku Tebekaimi, Hon. Appah Appah, Mariam, and the driver of the vehicle were all killed in the crash.
Ikesima Brown was a renowned Niger Delta high life singer who was known for her powerful vocals and energetic stage performances. She was a popular figure in the Niger Delta region and had a large following of fans.
The other victims of the crash were also all members of Ikesima Brown’s band. Joseph Ekeremieye was a drummer, Tuku Tebekaimi was a keyboardist, Hon. Appah Appah was a saxophonist, Mariam was a dancer, and the driver of the vehicle was not identified.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but it is believed that the vehicle may have hydroplaned on a wet road. The accident has sent shockwaves through the Niger Delta region and the Nigerian music industry. She was a talented musician who was taken from us too soon.
