INEC omits Abacha, lists Wali as Kano PDP guber candidate

Ogun INEC REC slumps, dies in Abuja

Despite earlier remarks that the only primary elections they observed was that which produced Muhammad Abacha as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano, the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, has displayed Sadiq Muhammad Wali on its list as the candidate of the party in the state.

Although the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Shehu Risqua, declined to comment on the new twist of events, Wali, a degree holder from Bayero University Kano, alongside his running mate, Yusuf Dambatta, were listed as the INEC recognized PDP candidates for the gubernatorial seat.

Other persons on the INEC list include Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the current Deputy Governor and a Degree Holder from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, with his running mate Murtala Sule Garo the immediate past state Commissioner for Local Government as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Also, Yusuf Abba Kabir, a Master’s holder from Bayero University, and his running mate, Aminu Abdussalam, have their names as candidates for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

In the same vein, the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, has Salihu Tanko Yakasai, son of the octogenarian politician, Tanko Yakasai, as running for the state gubernatorial seat.

The INEC list is expected to be contested especially by Muhammad Abacha, who had hoped his name would be on the list.
