INEC Warns of Violence Ahead of Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi Governorship Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will soon make public the report on the conduct of the 2023 General Election, as well as the report of the review committee that analyzed the election’s conduct.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made this known at an induction retreat for new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Lagos.

He stressed the importance of reviewing performance, reappraising processes, and discussing innovations to improve electoral services.

Yakubu reminded the RECs that elections are ongoing, with numerous activities like voter registration, and noted that the retreat was timely, given the upcoming governorship polls in Edo and Ondo states, and five pending bye-elections.
