Kogi Assembly has approved Gov. Bello’s N172 billion budget for 2023

EFCC set to arraign ex-Governor Bello today for N80 billion money laundering

The amount of N172,090,789,292 was approved by the Kogi State House of Assembly on Friday for the 2023 state budget.

Recall that the draught budget was given to the house for review and approval by Governor Yahaya Bello in November.

Aderonke Aro, the chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Appropriation, Budget, Monitoring and Economic Planning, presented the committee’s reports to the assembly’s members and stated that only the amount of N101,345,018,141 (one hundred and one billion, three hundred and forty-five million, eighteen thousand, one hundred and forty one forty one naira) would be appropriated from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Kogi State.

Aro further stated that only N70,745,769,151 (or seventy billion, seven hundred and forty-five million, seven hundred and sixty-nine thousand, one hundred and fifty one) will be allotted from the Kogi State Consolidated Revenue Fund for capital expenditure.

”However, during the course of the defence, the committee varied the budget provisions from one code to another in line with the economic reality. My esteemed Colleague, the Committee on Finance Appropriation, Budget Monitoring and Economic Planning, hereby recommend to this august house a ‘Balance Budget’ of One Hundred and Seventy-Two Billion, Ninety Million, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety” he added.

Before turning the report into law, the members of the house’s supply committee, chaired by the speaker Prince Mathew Kolawole, carefully studied it.

The seventh Assembly of Kogi State has already passed its final budget.
