Kwankwaso Meets Atiku as Opposition Realign Ahead of 2027 Presidential Election

Fresh political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections appear to be gathering momentum, as the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, held a meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Saturday.

The development was made public by Atiku, a leading figure positioning for the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), through a post shared on his official Facebook page.

While specifics surrounding the engagement remain unclear, Atiku indicated that both leaders engaged in extensive deliberations concerning Nigeria’s current political and economic realities.

“This evening, I received the former Governor of Kano State and the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on a courtesy visit.

“We had a robust discussion on the state of the nation,” the former VP wrote.

PulseNets learnt that the meeting comes at a time when opposition politicians are intensifying consultations and strategic engagements ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Findings obtained by PulseNets suggest that several political actors are exploring possible coalitions aimed at challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

PulseNets reported that Kwankwaso has been linked with ongoing speculations about a potential defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as political permutations continue to shape the pre-primary landscape.

Although no official confirmation has been made regarding his next political move, sources who spoke to PulseNets indicate that consultations are ongoing within key opposition blocs.
