Finally, Kwankwaso Speaks on Power Sharing Formula With Atiku, Peter Obi

2027 Presidency: Doubts over Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso merger talk

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, has responded to reports about an alleged agreement involving the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

PulseNets learned that during an interview with the BBC, Kwankwaso, who leads the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), categorically denied entering into any agreement with Atiku or Obi to share power by alternating terms.

Speaking to PulseNets, Kwankwaso stated that he was unaware of such plans but acknowledged hearing reports that members of Atiku’s camp had been meeting with regional leaders and clerics to promote this narrative.

Expressing his displeasure, the former Governor told PulseNets that he had been informed about a gathering of approximately 45 clerics who were reportedly fed with these fabricated claims.

His words: “I did not appreciate this at all.

“They were told that I had agreed to a deal where Atiku would serve for four years, I would serve for another four years, and Peter Obi would serve for eight years. This is completely false; such an agreement never existed,” the former governor said.

Kwankwaso further disclosed to PulseNets that he has found peace since leaving the PDP for the NNPP and has avoided unnecessary humiliation.

“Such lies and deceit are precisely why we left. Myself, Peter Obi, Wike, and others all left. Now they are coming back, asking us to help those who humiliated us to achieve their goals,” Kwankwaso said.
