Ahmed Idris Wase, the deputy speaker of the house of representatives, applauded the passage of the Federal Medical Centers Bill, 2022, into law.
On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the President gave his approval to the Bill.
The senator noted in a statement that the FMC Act is legacy legislation that will give all currently operating Federal Medical Centers around the nation a legal foundation.
Additionally, the bill calls for the construction of a new Federal Medical Center in Wase, Plateau State.
The FMC law is expected to establish facilities for diagnostic, curative, preventive, and rehabilitative services in medical treatment; build, outfit, and run similar training schools and institutes to supply the Medical Centers with qualified employees.
Additionally, it will provide funding for the establishment of the clinics, outpatient departments, laboratories, research or experimental stations, and other institutions of a like nature required for the efficient operation of the medical centres.
It will make sure that the standards of treatment and care offered at all establishments under its control, as well as the standards of treatment and care given to patients at those establishments, do not fall short of the necessary standards. It will also carry out any additional tasks required to make sure that its other duties can be carried out more easily.
Wase, a Plateau State representative for the Wase Federal constituency, likewise praised the law and thanked the 9th National Assembly’s leadership and members.
