Miss Universe Scandal: Executive Director Nawat Itsaragrisil Dismissed After Calling Miss Mexico “Dumb”
The Executive Director of the Miss Universe Organisation, Nawat Itsaragrisil, has been dismissed from the 2025 edition of the global pageant following allegations of verbal abuse and misconduct towards Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch.
The incident occurred during a pre-pageant ceremony in Thailand, where Nawat reportedly called Miss Mexico “dumb” for failing to post official promotional content on her social media accounts — an act widely condemned as disrespectful and unprofessional.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the comment sparked outrage among contestants, prompting Bosch to walk out of the event alongside several representatives from other countries in a show of solidarity.
Miss Universe Organisation Reacts Swiftly
Reacting to the controversy, Miss Universe President Raúl Rocha released an official statement on Instagram confirming Nawat’s dismissal and condemning his conduct.
“I have restricted Nawat’s participation in the events that are part of the 74th Miss Universe competition. I won’t let the values of respect and dignity of women be violated,” Rocha declared in Spanish.
Rocha emphasized that the Miss Universe Organisation remains committed to upholding integrity, respect, and empowerment — values at the core of the competition’s global reputation.

The dismissal has generated mixed reactions online. While many pageant fans praised the Miss Universe leadership for taking swift action, others described the incident as an embarrassment to the franchise, urging organisers to maintain higher professional standards among staff.
