The Lagos State Police Command has admitted a delay in releasing the autopsy report for late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, due to an outstanding toxicology report.
The report is being awaited from overseas.
Commissioner of Police Fayoade Adegoke, who spoke on Wednesday at the state command headquarters, explained that the delay is due to the need for specialised analysis not currently available in the country.
“Regarding the Mohbad case, the toxicology result is not ready and it is what is delaying the autopsy result. We have to get the report from the US.
“You can recall that during the End SARS, the laboratory built by the Lagos State Government was destroyed. That is why we had to go to the US to conduct toxicology,” he stated.
The update comes two months after the Lagos State Police initially said Mohbad’s autopsy had yet to be given to them. The 24-year-old’s sudden passing on September 12, 2023, sparked widespread controversy and calls for a thorough investigation.
