Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for Manchester United, has made a hint on when he would retire from playing for his country.
Ronaldo stated that he still has a long way to go before reaching his goals of representing Portugal in the 2024 European Championship and the FIFA World Cup this year.
The five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or spoke to the crowd about his future goals after receiving an accolade from the Portuguese Football Federation on Tuesday.
Ronaldo remarked through Goal, “It has been a long road, but I would like to take the opportunity to say that my road is not over yet,”
“I feel motivated, my ambition is high. I am in the selection with a lot of young players and I want to be part of this World Cup and the 2024 Euros as well, I assume now.”
It will be February 2023 when Ronaldo turns 38.
If he participated in Euro 2024, the captain of Portugal would be 39 years old.
The summer of 2023 will mark the end of Ronaldo’s current deal with Man United, but the Red Devils and the player have the option to extend it by another year.
