Obi Lawson, better known as Obidiz, an Afrobeats musician, has responded to Mercy Chinwo’s threat to sue him for slander and seek N2 billion in damages.
Remember how Mercy Chinwo had written to Obidiz, through her attorney Pelumi Olajengbesi, demanding that he remove his song, “Mercy Chinwo,” from all music streaming services for disparagingly utilizing her name and likeness in secular music audio and video.
She issued a warning that doing otherwise would result in legal action, including asking the court to impose N2 billion in damages on him.
Obidiz responded on his Twitter page on Saturday, saying that he had simply performed a song and hadn’t actually killed anyone.
He explained that the song was about a lady he met.
He wrote, “Na song I sing I no kill person.
“Mercy Chinwo for church o but for club na Cardi B set’ Talks about a girl I met, na she I sing about but una wan crucify me,” Obidiz said.
