NCAA Summons Ibom Air Crew Member Juliana Edward and Passenger Comfort Emmanson Over In-Flight Incident
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially summoned Ibom Air cabin crew member, Juliana Edward, alongside the embattled passenger, Comfort Emmanson, for further investigations into the controversial in-flight incident.
PulseNets learnt that the development was disclosed by Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, during a question-and-answer session at the Emergency National Civil Aviation Security Committee and Stakeholders Meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja.
Achimugu, who spoke to PulseNets shortly after the meeting, revealed that he had already engaged with Emmanson earlier in the day, stressing that both the passenger and the crew member involved had been summoned for continued enquiry.
“I have spoken with Ms. Emmanson this morning. We are also inviting the Ibom Air cabin crew for continued investigation on the incident. They will be here tomorrow,” he said.
Clarifying reports that had circulated widely on social media, Achimugu told PulseNets that the pilot did not call in security personnel upon landing in Lagos since the matter appeared to have been resolved during the flight.
However, he explained that Emmanson—who reportedly visited the restroom after touchdown—was the last to disembark from the aircraft, a detail that has added to public curiosity around the case.
Achimugu assured stakeholders that the NCAA remains determined to uncover all the facts surrounding the incident, stressing that consumer protection and aviation security remain top priorities.
In his reaction, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, attributed the surge in misconduct across Nigeria’s aviation sector to what he described as a growing decline in discipline among passengers, airport workers, and even crew members.

Meanwhile, PulseNets reported that the NCAA has also issued a fresh directive, insisting that all mobile phones must be completely switched off during flight take-off and landing to enhance safety standards across domestic and international operations.
Recall that Comfort Emmanson had recently stirred widespread controversy in Nigeria’s aviation space after the in-flight drama involving Ibom Air staff went viral, prompting calls for stronger enforcement of passenger discipline and crew training protocols.
