NDDC Launches 2024 Free Medical Mission Across Niger Delta States

NDDC urges IOCs to defray over $700m outstanding debt

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has initiated its highly anticipated 2024 Free Medical Mission, aiming to provide essential healthcare services to communities across the region. Spanning multiple states and local government areas (LGAs), the mission encompasses a wide range of medical interventions, including free consultation, eye checks, drugs, eye glasses, surgeries, and counseling.

The schedule for the medical mission is as follows:

  • Delta State: General Hospital Otujeremi, Ughelli South (May 5th – May 11th)
  • Bayelsa State: General Hospital, Otuasega, Ogbia LGA (May 12th – May 18th)
  • Edo State: Auchi General Hospital, Auchi, Etsako West LGA (May 12th – May 18th)
  • Ondo State: Igbokoda General Hospital, Ilaje LGA (May 26th – June 1st)
  • Bayelsa State (Lot 2): Diete Koki Memorial Hospital, Yenagoa LGA (June 2nd – June 8th)
  • Rivers State: General Hospital Ogu/Bolo, Ogu/Bolo LGA (June 2nd – June 8th)
  • Abia State: Community Health Center Umuaka, Ukwa West LGA (June 16th – June 22nd)
  • Cross River State: General Hospital Akamkpa, Akamkpa LGA (June 16th – June 22nd)

The medical mission offers a comprehensive range of services aimed at addressing the healthcare needs of residents in these areas. From free consultation and eye checks to the provision of essential medications, eye glasses, and even surgical procedures, the initiative seeks to improve access to quality healthcare and alleviate the burden of medical expenses on communities.

Furthermore, the inclusion of counseling services underscores the holistic approach of the mission, recognizing the importance of mental health and psychosocial support in overall well-being.
