The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, has taken steps to facilitate the marriage of 100 female orphans who tragically lost their parents in banditry attacks.

The Speaker, representing Mariga Constituency, pledged to cover the dowries for the bridegrooms and ensure all necessary arrangements are made for the weddings.

The event, scheduled for May 24 in Bangi, the headquarters of Mariga Local Government Area, will be attended by Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Hisbah Board from Kano state.

Speaking to journalists in Minna, Sarkindaji said the project would be part of his constituency empowerment project, adding that it was being done with the best of intentions and would serve as a way of ameliorating the sufferings of the poor.
