Breaking: NLC,TUC Meets FG over Suspension of Strike

Breaking: FG, NLC Reach Five Resolutions to End Planned Strike (Details)

Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have arrived at the State House in Abuja for the second round of talks with representatives of the federal government over the planned nationwide strike.

PulseNets reports that the meeting comes as the organised labour is set to embark on an indefinite strike on Wednesday over the removal of fuel subsidy by the government, which has led to a sharp increase in the price of petrol and other essential goods and services.

On Sunday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu offered a provisional wage increase of N35,000 for all treasury-paid workers for six months, as well as a commitment to fast-track the provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to ease public transportation.

However, the NLC has said that these measures are not enough to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on workers and the general public.
