On Sunday, Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, reassured the populace that there will be no further coups.

At the conclusion of the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the Defense Minister provided the guarantees to journalists at the National Arcade in Abuja.

“Democracy has come to stay; a government of the people, by the people and for the people has come to stay”, he added.

Irabor said that he has been working out details for election security with the Inspector-General of Police.

“We’ve also made contingencies should we be required to give support to the police as the election is conducted”, the CDS added.

IGP Usman Baba expressed sympathy to the families of fallen military, police, and paramilitary personnel in his statement.

Baba advised Nigerians to ensure their sacrifices are not in vain as “we embark on drives that will continually promote peace and unity, peaceful coexistence”.
