North East forum calls for immediate sack of Wike as FCT minister
The North East Unity Forum has urged President Bola Tinubu to dismiss the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. This demand comes in response to a recent incendiary remark made by Wike, threatening to “put fire in the states” governed by those who support his successor, Sim Fubara.
Abubakar Kabir, the convener of the forum, issued a statement on Tuesday, September 3, speaking to PulseNets. He emphasized that Wike’s threats pose a grave danger to Nigeria’s democracy and national stability. According to Kabir, such inflammatory rhetoric is not only unacceptable but also a serious provocation that cannot be ignored.
Kabir declared, “Therefore, the NUF demands the immediate dismissal of Nyesom Wike as FCT Minister. His actions have demonstrated that he is unfit to hold any public office, let alone one as significant as the FCT Minister.”
In his statement, Kabir further stressed that President Tinubu faces a critical choice between upholding the rule of law, decency, and common sense or aligning with what he described as “an irredeemably compromised politician” like Wike. He accused Wike of creating violence and instability in a desperate bid to remain in the public spotlight, to the detriment of Nigeria’s interests.

Kabir also urged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take disciplinary action against Wike, ensuring he is held accountable for his reckless utterances and actions.
