Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN Elected 33rd President of Nigerian Bar Association

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has been elected as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), following the conclusion of the association’s national election held on Saturday.

PulseNets learnt that Badejo-Okusanya secured 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the total votes cast in the election.

The official results obtained by PulseNets showed that she defeated her closest challengers, Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who polled 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who received 5,855 votes.

The election also produced other members of the new National Executive Council of the NBA.

According to the results obtained by PulseNets, the successful candidates include:

  • Oghenero Okoro – First Vice President (11,024 votes)

  • Afam Okeke – General Secretary (8,478 votes)

  • Aghogho Gladys – Assistant General Secretary (14,312 votes)

  • Chinelo Audrey Ofoegbunam – Welfare Secretary (14,911 votes)

Other successful candidates were also elected into various positions within the association.

Badejo-Okusanya’s emergence marks a new chapter in the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association, the umbrella body of lawyers in Nigeria.
