Wike Reveals Condition That Will Make Him Quit Tinubu’s Cabinet
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he is prepared to resign from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet if anyone can prove that the road construction figures he presented on infrastructure projects across Abuja’s satellite towns are inaccurate.
Wike made the declaration on Friday during the commissioning of the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Abuja.
According to figures obtained by PulseNets, the FCT Administration has completed 221 kilometres of roads out of the 317 kilometres awarded for construction across satellite communities since President Bola Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.
The minister said residents of the satellite towns were already benefiting from the administration’s infrastructure drive, insisting that the level of development currently taking place was unprecedented in the history of the Federal Capital Territory.
“The people of the satellite towns have felt the impact of governance. It has never happened in the history of the administration of this country.”
Challenging critics of the administration to dispute the figures, Wike stated:
“If there is anybody who has a contrary view, let him come out and challenge us that all these you are saying is not correct, I will resign as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.”
PulseNets learnt that the inauguration of the Arab/Gbazango Road forms part of the FCT Administration’s ongoing commissioning of completed infrastructure projects across Abuja. The newly reconstructed road is expected to improve movement within Kubwa, provide easier access to the Outer Northern Expressway and stimulate commercial activities in the area.
Representing President Bola Tinubu at the event, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said the project would significantly ease transportation for residents, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, strengthen emergency response operations and boost economic activities.
Abbas also commended Wike for what he described as impactful infrastructure development across the Federal Capital Territory, noting that the projects were positively transforming the lives of residents.
Wike’s remarks come amid continuing discussions over the pace of infrastructure delivery under the Tinubu administration. While the FCT minister maintains that the government’s achievements are evident across Abuja’s satellite communities, opposition figures and critics have continued to question the scale and quality of some completed projects.
PulseNets reported that the latest declaration comes days after President Tinubu again praised Wike’s performance during the inauguration of the Bwari Water Supply Network, where the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to extending clean and safe water to residents of all six area councils under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Represented by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, the President described access to clean water as a fundamental right, stating that the newly completed 198-kilometre pipeline network linking Bwari and neighbouring communities to the Lower Usuma Dam would ensure reliable and safe water supply for residents.
Tinubu also applauded Wike for increasing the FCT’s internally generated revenue while delivering major infrastructure projects in road construction, housing and water supply, describing him as a dependable driver of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking during the inauguration of the water project, Wike recalled that President Tinubu had directed the FCT Administration to extend potable water to satellite towns during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Project in 2025.
“We want Nigerians to know that our focus is not only on roads. We are equally investing in other critical sectors, including water supply.”
PulseNets also reported that last month, President Tinubu gave Wike one of his strongest public endorsements during the commissioning of the Collector Road CN2 in Katampe. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President said:
“When I gave him the assignment to make Abuja a true capital city, I knew his track records. Wike, you have not disappointed Mr President.”
He further added:
“From transforming abandoned roads into new boulevards, to delivering water projects and judicial quarters, you work day and night. You do not give excuses; you give results. The people of the FCT call you ‘Mr Project’ for a reason.”
