Why Peter Obi Chose Rabiu Kwankwaso as Running Mate for 2027 Presidential Election

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has explained why he selected the leader of the Kwankwassiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as his running mate ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, which was obtained by PulseNets, Obi said his decision was driven by Kwankwaso’s commitment to tackling poverty through people centred policies and human capital development.

According to Obi, both he and the former Kano State governor share a common vision for rebuilding Nigeria’s economy and improving the living conditions of citizens.

“I have the same philosophy. Kwankwaso believes in education. You cannot change society without education.

“If you look at my X, formerly Twitter, I made it clear that I will emphasise on education. Education is going to change society.

“Nigeria must be seen to form its innermost human capital, which we need to develop. Kwankwaso believes in this. I do. We have synergy.”

The former Anambra State governor stressed that education remains the foundation for national development, insisting that investing in human capital is critical to transforming Nigeria and lifting millions out of poverty.
