PDP BoT Denies Forgery Allegation, Says Anyanwu’s Signature Was Authentic and Witnessed
The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as false, unfounded, and mischievous the claims of forgery and signature cloning allegedly made by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
According to a statement obtained by PulseNets from the BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, on Thursday in Abuja, the party’s leadership expressed shock over what it termed a deliberate attempt to misinform members of the public and sow seeds of discord within the PDP.
Senator Anyanwu had reportedly alleged that his signature was forged on a letter transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the PDP’s forthcoming elective convention.
However, Wabara clarified that the document in question was duly signed and authenticated during a properly constituted session of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
He explained that the BoT would ordinarily avoid commenting on internal administrative matters in the public space but had to respond given the “seriousness of the allegation and its potential to mislead party members and the public.”
“It is on record that the said INEC notification letter was jointly signed by the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and Senator Samuel Anyanwu on August 25, during the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee of our party,”
Wabara told PulseNets.
The PDP BoT Chairman further disclosed that the signing took place “in the full view of key stakeholders, including members of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the BoT, and NEC representatives who were present at the meeting.”
PulseNets learnt that following that meeting, Senator Anyanwu was formally inaugurated as the Secretary of the Contact and Mobilization Sub-Committee for the 2025 National Convention — a role that placed him at the centre of major party communications.
Wabara further reported that in this capacity, Anyanwu personally co-signed several official correspondences alongside the Sub-Committee Chairman, Senator Douye Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa State.

He urged party members and supporters to disregard what he described as “a deliberate distraction aimed at undermining unity ahead of the 2025 National Convention.”
“Our focus remains on strengthening internal democracy and ensuring the PDP stands as a model of transparency and accountability,”
Wabara told PulseNets.
