PDP crisis: Ayu should toe path of honour, resign – Northern youths

Court Upholds Suspension of Ex-PDP chairman, Ayu

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has been asked by the leadership of the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) to view the request for his resignation as an opportunity to serve.

The NYCN noted that when a Southerner becomes the party’s chairman, Ayu’s resignation or stepping down as the PDP’s national chairman would give the party a face of equity and fairness.

The National President of NYCN, Isah Abubakar, said in a statement released on Saturday in Kaduna and made available to PulseNets states, “We plead with Ayu to understand the concept of justice and equity, the spirit of oneness, to be patriotic enough to save the party from losing the 2023 general elections and resign. Nigerians and the entire country will be grateful if Ayu considers resignation.”

The youths added, “The PDP is know as a National party but with the emergency of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s flagbearer in 2023 and the continuity of Ayu chairmanship, a lot of people will see the party as a regional political party; this is a bad reputation for the party and it is unacceptable to all party faithful.”

“If this is the only thing that will maintain peace and grant the party victory in the elections, Ayu should do so for the victory of the party and interest of all Nigerians,” the statement pleaded.
