President Bola Tinubu is set to reveal fresh dates for the national population and housing census, which was previously postponed in April.
PulseNets reports that Nasir Kwarra, the chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), revealed this after briefing the president at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
Tinubu’s meeting with Kwarra comes nine weeks after the census was initially postponed during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Despite the delay, Buhari had instructed the commission to continue preparations for the 2023 census to uphold the progress made thus far and establish a foundation for the incoming administration.

Originally scheduled for March 27, the census was rescheduled for May 3-5 due to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to shift the governorship election from March 11 to March 18.
The census was yet again postponed indefinitely.
