Rivers: Caretaker Chairman Strengthens Fubara’s Structure, Appoints 600 Aides

One of the 23 Local Government Council Caretaker Committee Chairmen recently appointed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed a staggering 600 individuals as Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Executive Assistants.

PulseNets reports that the caretaker chairperson of Ikwerre Local Government Area (LGA), Darlington Orji, made the appointment on Wednesday, 26th June 2024.

According to political analysts observing the situation in Rivers State, the move is aimed at strengthening Governor Fubara’s political structure, which is seen as a strategic response to his ongoing political rivalry with his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Orji made the appointments despite claiming he was prevented from assuming office by police barricades at the local government secretariat.
