Ronaldo will be paid £10 million by Man Utd to leave Old Trafford
According to the UK Sun, Manchester United would have to pay Cristiano Ronaldo around £10 million to remove him from their roster in January.
For the trip to Chelsea on Saturday, where the Red Devils played to a 1-1 tie, Ronaldo was benched.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, made the choice in response to allegations that the 37-year-old refused to leave the bench during last week’s victory over Spurs.
Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford has become more clear in light of the entire affair.
However, United face a pay-off in the eight figures if they wish to get rid of the player before his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
With no consideration for any bonuses for league finishes or trophies, Ronaldo would get almost £9.6 million in basic pay through June.
However, it is thought that if he did refuse to enter as a substitute and was found to be in breach of contract, United would have the option of terminating his contract.
