The X user posted records showing the official list of Jonathan’s appointees, pointing out that Omokri’s name was missing entirely. According to the user, Omokri’s true role was linked to his close association with the late Oronto Douglas, Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Research and Strategy, not to the President himself.

Shortly after the viral post, observers noticed sudden changes to Omokri’s Wikipedia profile page, where edits were made to downplay the controversial “Jonathan’s aide” title he had carried for years.

The X User’s Claim:

• Omokri was never officially appointed as an aide or Special Assistant by President Jonathan.

• His involvement with the Presidency was only through Oronto Douglas, to whom he acted more as a personal assistant.

• Despite this, newspapers, blogs, and TV platforms repeatedly referred to Omokri as “former Jonathan’s aide” — a description the user insists is false and misleading.

The official records back the user’s claims. President Jonathan’s documented appointees included Reuben Abati (Media and Publicity), Joy Emordi (National Assembly Matters), Sarah Jibril (Ethics and Values), Kingsley Kuku (Niger Delta Affairs), and several others. Omokri’s name is nowhere on the gazetted list.

The exposure has since sparked heated debate online, with critics accusing Omokri of deliberately curating a false public image for political relevance. Others are now questioning how mainstream media repeated the title for years without proper verification.
