Sowore Meets Nnamdi Kanu at Federal High Court
At the Federal High Court in Abuja, human rights activist, presidential candidate, and lead convener of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, finally met Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The encounter, which drew attention from both supporters and observers, showcased a rare moment of unity and mutual respect between two of Nigeria’s most vocal freedom advocates.
Sowore, who shared the moment on his social media page, said:
“Finally, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and I met at the Federal High Court today. The man is powerful and unrelenting. We greeted and hugged, and the bond is strong!”
Eyewitnesses described the meeting as heartfelt, with both men exchanging pleasantries despite the heavy security presence in the courtroom. Many supporters outside the court reportedly cheered as word spread that the two activists had embraced.
Nnamdi Kanu is currently being detained by the State Security Service (SSS), popularly known as the DSS, since his re-arrest in 2021. He continues to face charges related to his activism and calls for the independence of Biafra.
Sowore’s statement quickly went viral online, sparking reactions from Nigerians who praised both men for their courage and resilience in the face of political persecution.
Meanwhile, Sowore remains a fierce critic of government repression and an advocate for good governance, democracy, and human rights.
