Tinubu Meets Newly Appointed Service Chiefs, Orders Stronger National Security Framework
President Bola Tinubu on Monday held a high-level security meeting with the newly appointed service chiefs at the State House, Abuja, in what sources described as part of ongoing efforts to fortify Nigeria’s security architecture.
According to information obtained by PulseNets, the closed-door meeting came shortly after their appointments were officially confirmed — a move widely interpreted as a strategic step toward improving professionalism, efficiency, and morale across the Armed Forces.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas.
Although the presidency has yet to release the full details of the discussions, senior defence officials told PulseNets that the meeting focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination, intelligence sharing, and operational synergy in tackling the country’s multifaceted security challenges.
A top source spoke to PulseNets under condition of anonymity, revealing that President Tinubu emphasized the need for renewed discipline and innovation within the Armed Forces.
“The President made it clear that Nigerians expect results. He urged the service chiefs to operate with unity of purpose and adopt a modern approach to internal security management,” the source noted.
Another insider learnt by PulseNets added that the Commander-in-Chief expressed confidence in the new team’s capacity to deliver tangible results, stressing that security remains the cornerstone of his administration’s agenda for national stability and economic recovery.
“This administration cannot thrive without peace and order,” the insider quoted President Tinubu as saying. “Every Nigerian deserves to sleep with both eyes closed, and that is the mission we must all pursue relentlessly.”
