President Bola Named Among World’s Most Corrupt and Organised Crime Figures of 2024
This ranking comes from the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which recently released its list spotlighting individuals notorious for fostering corruption and criminal activities worldwide.
The OCCRP ranking, based on a global poll, positioned Tinubu third, following Kenyan President William Ruto and former Indonesian President Joko Widodo. However, the overall “Person of the Year” dishonour went to Bashar al-Assad, the recently ousted leader of Syria.
Sources told PulseNets that Tinubu’s alleged involvement in perpetuating a regime of corruption in Nigeria secured him this controversial ranking. His eight-year tenure as Lagos State governor, spanning from 1999 to 2007, has long been dogged by allegations of corruption, including accusations of amassing wealth for himself and his family.
A source familiar with the matter reported to PulseNets that Tinubu’s reputation has been further tainted by the recent awarding of a multitrillion-naira road project to a company owned by his son. This controversy has only solidified perceptions of corruption surrounding the Nigerian leader.

Additionally, Tinubu’s alleged history as a cocaine dealer in Chicago and accusations of certificate forgery were cited as key reasons for his inclusion in the OCCRP ranking.
PulseNets will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as more information emerges.
