Transfer: Perez, the president of Real Madrid, comments on the release clause for Haaland at Manchester City
Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, has asserted that he is unaware of Erling Haaland’s Manchester City release clause.
Haaland merely moved from Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad this summer.
20 goals have now been scored by the striker for City in just 14 games.
Madrid was another team with a strong interest in Haaland, and the Los Blancos are still mentioned in connection with a move for him.
According to The Athletic, his five-year deal has a €200 million (£175.5 million) release clause that takes effect in 2024.
Alf Inge Haaland, Haaland’s father, has stated that he wants to “prove his abilities in all leagues” and that his City spell will last “three or four years at most.”
If Haaland were to leave City, Madrid would be the most apparent next destination, although Perez has tried to minimise any suggestion that the La Liga winners are preparing a transfer.
“Release clause for Erling Haaland? I have no idea, honestly,” he said.
“We have the best players in the world at Real Madrid.”
