Trust TV cameraman brutalized by thugs at a Tinubu rally in Lagos

A cameraman from Trust TV named Taiwo Yishau was assaulted on Tuesday at the location of Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress, APC, grand finale rally.

Although wearing the press tag provided by the party, he was accosted at one of Teslim Balogun Stadium’s entrances.

Yishau claimed that despite his explanation that he had been properly assigned to cover the event, he was denied admittance.

The journalist described how a band of thugs beat him repeatedly and accused him of faking the tag.

After being turned over to his attackers by bouncers paid to guard the gate, who said he was employed by another party, this happened.

“I showed them the press tag given to us by APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo yesterday. But they said it is fake.

“They said I am working for the opposition. They asked me to show previous works I did done for APC and they kept beating me,” he said.

Police officers around the incident stayed motionless and observed “as if nothing is happening,” Yishau bemoaned.

“They didn’t say anything. I was trying to protect my camera and the phone as they kept beating me”, he added.

The Daily Trust’s owners, Media Trust Group, have denounced the attack and promised to bring it up with the relevant authorities.
