US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has reached out to President-elect Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the United States’ dedication to bolstering Nigeria’s democracy.
PulseNets reports that in a statement by Tunde Rahman, spokesperson for the president-elect, it was revealed that the conversation was initiated by the American diplomat.
“The telephone discussion, held on Tuesday evening, was characterized by openness and amiability,” Rahman stated.
“While affirming his commitment to democracy, President-elect Tinubu firmly asserted that the election results, in which he emerged as the clear victor, accurately reflected the will of the Nigerian people.”
Tinubu further expressed his determination to unite the nation and ensure the happiness and well-being of Nigerians, granting them the benefits of democratic governance and progressive policies.
Rahman quoted Blinken as he conveyed to the President-elect that national unity, security, economic development, and good governance are essential for Nigeria to thrive and fulfill its rightful place among African nations.

“Secretary Blinken assured Nigeria of an upcoming positive and mutually beneficial relationship with the United States,” Rahman revealed.
“He pledged to contribute to the establishment of a sustained and harmonious partnership between the two countries, emphasizing that a democratic and peaceful Nigeria is crucial not only for Africa but also for the United States.”
Currently, Tinubu is on a visit to Europe.
