VOLUNTEERS AND VIGILANTE RAID CRIMINAL HIDEOUTS IN YENAGOA

The acting Chairman, Bayelsa State Volunteers, Hon. Lucky Oyinkuro Asanakpo led a team of security personnel attached to the agency on a raid of criminal hideouts in Yenagoa.

At the end of the five hour operation in Biogbolo, Ovom and Tombia two drug dealers who are members of different cult groups were arrested and handed over to the anti-cultism unit of the Nigeria Police over the weekend.

The Chairman who was accompanied by his counterpart, the acting Chairman of Vigilante Services, Mr. Doubiye Alagba and his team took the battle against cultism to the forest across the creek of Biogbolo.

The criminals on sighting the team of security men took to their heels leaving behind drugs, charms and other items.

The Chairman in an interview assured, the people of Bayelsa State that concerted efforts are being made to rid the state of criminal elements adding that the two agencies will make the state very uncomfortable for men of the underworld including their supporters and sponsors, if any.

Henceforth, Asanakpo threatened that any landlord who shields or harbour any criminal in their abodes will also be treated as an accomplis for aiding abetting criminal activities in the state.

Again, the acting Chairman has cautioned parents to monitor the activities of their children and wards especially with regards to the types of friends the keep.

He also advised the youths to stay away from drugs because of the negative effects of hard drugs in their bodies and psyches.

The acting Chairman has commended the prosperity Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the state at this critical moments, and he went further to assure Senator Douye Diri that they will work hard to ensure that the responsibility reposed on them is not misplaced.

It will be recalled that about fifteen young men and women were arrested during a similar operation last week. The trend continues.
