Warri-Itakpe service is halted by NRC after a train derails

Kano-Lagos, Port Harcourt-Aba rail services to begin by December — NRC

After a train derailed at kilometre 30 of the Ajaokuta-Itakpe portion of the track, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Sunday stopped the rail service between Warri and Itakpe.

According to PULSENETS, the incident on Sunday left roughly 300 travellers trapped inside Kogi woodland.

Sanni Abdulganiyu, the Warri-Itakpe train service coordinator, verified the event and stated that security officials were summoned to the location right away.

He said that no fatalities or casualties were reported.

“The Warri-Itakpe train service WITS 01 derailed at about 12:30hrs of January 22, 2023.

“The cause of the derailment is not yet determined. Due to this incident, the service along the corridor has been suspended. Further details would be communicated to members of the public,” he added.
