We Are Seeing Signs — Gov. Fubara Hints at Wike’s Defection to APC

Rivers: Wike demanded 25% of allocations, N2b from palliative money – Activist alleges

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has appealed to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, urging him not to distance himself if he decides to switch to the opposing political faction.

According to PulseNets, this appeal was made during a thanksgiving reception held in honor of Wike at the governor’s private residence on Ada-George Road.

Acknowledging the speculation surrounding Wike’s potential departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Fubara expressed his desire for Wike to remain close by.

He emphasized the importance of Wike’s guidance and counsel, particularly in the face of political adversaries who aim to undermine their shared interests.

“While there are indications that you may consider joining the other side, a prospect that many anticipate, I implore you not to distance yourself from me. I am aware that there are those waiting to harm us like sharks and tigers,” Fubara stated. “Your presence and guidance will continue to steer me in the right direction for the betterment of our state.”

Governor Fubara’s appeal comes amidst ongoing rumors surrounding Wike’s potential departure from the PDP.

Speculation increased after Wike publicly supported Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, who ultimately emerged as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, instead of his own party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
