Wike donates N300 million to the wives of Lagos State officials amidst terrible floods in Rivers

Ministerial List: Wike will Leave PDP — Former Transport Minister

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has contributed N300 million to the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, COWLSO.

Governor Wike made the announcement at the ongoing 22nd National Women’s Conference (NWC) in Lagos.

The offer comes in the aftermath of a recent severe flood that swamped numerous communities in the state, leaving people homeless and hungry.

Over 200 communities in four Rivers State local councils, namely Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA), Ahoada West, Ahoada East, and Abual Odual, have been uprooted by the destructive flood.

In a speech given during the event, Wike claimed that Lagos State’s continued leadership in the nation is due to the participation of women in politics and decision-making.

He expressed amazement at the work that COWLSO is carrying out in Lagos State and pledged to apply everything he had learned from the conference in his own State.

Additionally, Governor Wike made use of the occasion to announce his unwavering support for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-candidacy Olu’s for reelection in the general elections of 2023.
