Wike Orders Immediate Removal of FCT-IRS Acting Chairman as Revenue Reforms Intensify
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has removed the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango, in a swift directive that took effect immediately on Friday.
The development was confirmed in a late-night update released by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media. PulseNets learnt that the order was issued without any grace period, signalling the minister’s firm stance on restructuring key revenue institutions within the territory.
Olayinka noted that Wike has directed the most senior official in the service to “take charge and ensure uninterrupted operations pending further instructions.”
The FCT Administration, though silent on the specific reasons behind Ango’s removal, is reportedly adjusting internal frameworks to enhance transparency and tighten revenue collection processes. Sources who spoke to PulseNets indicated that the move forms part of Wike’s broader administrative reforms targeted at strengthening institutional efficiency across departments linked to finances and service delivery.
In recent months, the minister has implemented a series of shake-ups across agencies directly connected to financial oversight, an approach insiders described as “a recalibration designed to block leakages and improve accountability.”

Ango, who had been serving in an acting capacity, previously supervised several critical revenue operations before Friday’s decision. His exit has now shifted attention to the next phase of the administration’s ongoing reforms and who might be appointed to permanently lead the revenue service.
