Aminu Ali Shana, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was detained in Kano State together with 367 allegedly fraudulent permanent voter cards.
The suspect has been brought into jail, according to Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesman for the Kano State Police, who confirmed the development to the Daily Sun. He also stated that the investigation has started.
According to the police, Aminu, the APC Chairman of the Yautan Arewa ward in the State’s Gabasawa Local Government Area, was taken into custody on October 14, 2022.
It was learned that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had received the suspected PVCs from the police for verification. Then, it’s possible to invite all the people whose faces were on the cards to be interrogated.
According to PulseNets, the offence violates Sections 21 and 22 Subsections 1(a), (b), and (c) of the Electoral Act (amended).
Remember how the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, through its spokeswoman Sanusi Bature, raised the alarm by alleging that some politicians in the State were hoarding or purchasing PVCs from voters in areas where they doubted their chances of doing well in the general elections of 2023.
