An aide to the Bayelsa state governor, Hon. George Turnah was on Friday reported to be jailed by a federal court in sitting in Port Harcourt. The news was made public on EFCC official twitter page.
PulseNets learnt, Turnah, who was prosecuted by the Port Harcourt’s Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, between 2017 and 2022, for obtaining money by false pretence, money laundering and abuse of office, was jailed for failure to make full disclosure of his assets in his disclosure to the EFCC.
PulseNets learnt after further investigation, that Hon. George Turnah was sentenced in absentia and is currently at the Bayelsa state Government House.
A source close to Mr Turnah spoke to PulseNets said; “This Judgement was given on his absence but I know say him go appeal the matter, him dey Government house for now”.
Another source revealed that Mr Turnah was jailed but immediately appealed the judgement.
