Peter Obi Has Told Supporters Not to Vote For Labour Party
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has called on his loyal supporters to throw their weight behind the candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming by-elections scheduled to hold across several states in Nigeria.
Obi, who spoke through a statement on his official X handle on Thursday, told PulseNets that the Labour Party would not be participating in the polls due to the absence of recognised candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) — a situation caused by the party’s lingering internal leadership crisis.
According to details obtained by PulseNets, the crucial elections will take place on August 16, 2025, spanning 16 states nationwide. The seats up for grabs include two senatorial positions, five Federal House of Representatives seats, and nine State Assembly seats, making the by-election a key political event with potential ripple effects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In his appeal, Obi told PulseNets:
“Kindly note that because the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by INEC due to the internal crisis.
I humbly urge every member of Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states.”

Political analysts who spoke to PulseNets noted that Obi’s open endorsement of ADC candidates could significantly shift voting patterns in the affected states, especially given the loyalty of the Obidient Movement and the Coalition for Peter Obi Democratic Mobilisation (COPDEM).
This development comes amid rising political tensions, as parties position themselves to gain strategic advantages ahead of the 2027 presidential race, where Obi remains a figure of intense national interest.
