Adeleke: Having Friends in APC Doesn’t Mean I’ll Dump PDP; I Remain Loyal
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), assuring that the party’s upcoming national convention slated for November 15 and 16 will hold as planned without hitches.
Speaking after the inaugural meeting of the PDP National Convention Committee in Abuja, where he serves as Deputy Chairman and also heads the Accommodation Sub-Committee, the governor said all preparations were on course and being carried out in strict adherence to the party’s internal guidelines.
A reliable source at the meeting told PulseNets that the committee had “adopted a meticulous approach to logistics, ensuring that every stage of the process aligns with the PDP’s long-standing tradition of order and discipline.”
Adeleke, in his remarks obtained by PulseNets, expressed optimism about the success of the exercise, stressing that the PDP has always demonstrated excellence in organisational matters.
“We are confident that this convention will be another milestone for our great party. The PDP is known for doing things properly and lawfully. That’s what we’re doing now — following due process and respecting the rule of law,”
he stated, adding that previous conventions had proven the party’s capacity to organise credible and transparent events.
“By God’s grace, this one will surpass the past. The PDP will continue to grow from strength to strength,”
he assured.

When PulseNets sought clarification on speculations of internal disputes within the party ahead of the convention, Adeleke dismissed such reports, insisting that any differences were being amicably handled.
“There’s no cause for alarm. The PDP is a big family, and we’re resolving our issues internally. We don’t need anyone from outside adding sugar, pepper, or salt to the matter. We know how to manage our own affairs,”
he told PulseNets confidently.
The governor also reacted to recent high-profile defections from the PDP, including some former governors and ministers, describing them as normal occurrences in politics that pose no threat to the party’s stability or national spread.
“People have the right to make their choices. Whether a governor or a minister leaves doesn’t shake our foundation. The PDP remains strong with members and supporters in every part of Nigeria,”
Adeleke told PulseNets.
Responding to rumours linking him with a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adeleke dismissed such speculation as unfounded.
“Let’s be clear — having friends in the APC doesn’t make me one of them. I attend social events when invited, but that has nothing to do with politics. I am, as we speak, the Deputy Chairman of our PDP Convention Committee,”
he clarified.
“I remain a loyal and committed member of the PDP,”
he reaffirmed, stressing that his political conviction remains firmly rooted in the party’s ideology and democratic values.
