Al-Nassr captain and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has described U.S. President Donald Trump as “one of the guys that can help change the world,” during a recent interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo made the comment while speaking about leadership, influence, and global affairs. The football legend said he respects individuals who use their positions to inspire transformation and believes Trump fits that description.

“Donald Trump is one of the guys that can help to change the world,” Ronaldo said in the interview, which aired this week.

Trump, who returned to the White House earlier this year for a second term at age 79, has already drawn international attention for a series of bold foreign-policy moves and domestic reforms. His administration is also preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico across 16 cities.

Ronaldo, who has generally avoided political commentary throughout his two-decade career, surprised fans with his candid remarks. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner emphasized that his admiration was based on Trump’s drive and determination rather than political alignment.

The interview quickly went viral on social media, with supporters and critics reacting strongly to Ronaldo’s words. While some praised him for speaking his mind, others argued that sports figures should remain neutral on divisive political matters.

Ronaldo continues to lead Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League while serving as captain of Portugal’s national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
