Burna Boy Reveals He and Late AKA Secretly Resolved Feud Before Rapper’s Death
Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Burna Boy has disclosed that he and late South African rapper AKA had privately settled their long-running feud before the rapper’s tragic death, PulseNets learned.
The rift between both African music heavyweights dates back to 2019, when tensions escalated after Burna Boy threatened to “deal” with AKA if they ever crossed paths.
The clash followed reports that AKA had fuelled xenophobic sentiments against Nigerians in South Africa. This reportedly stemmed from the rapper sharing screenshots of hateful messages he claimed to have received from Nigerian social media users during heated banter surrounding an AFCON quarterfinal match.
However, Burna Boy has now revealed that the misunderstanding was quietly resolved long before AKA’s passing.
In a posthumous birthday tribute shared on his Instagram page, Burna Boy expressed deep regret that death cut short their reconciliation and prevented them from bringing planned collaborations to life.
He wrote:
“Happy birthday Supa Mega. We fell out over bullsh*t, even though we squashed it over Twitter DMs nobody knew about. We never got the chance to really link up and do what we were supposed to do. I will regret that until I see you again. Until then, R.I.P Mega.”
PulseNets obtained that despite their public fallout, both artistes had reached a mutual understanding away from the spotlight, choosing to resolve the issue privately rather than publicly.

PulseNets also learnt that AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, was shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban on February 10, 2023.
The trial connected to his murder remains ongoing, PulseNets reported.
