Peter Obi Meets US Healthcare Experts, Pushes Health Insurance Expansion and Primary Healthcare Reform in Nigeria
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has engaged healthcare professionals and medical experts in the United States as part of ongoing efforts to identify practical solutions for strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system.
The former Anambra State governor disclosed the development in a statement shared via his X account on Saturday, noting that the engagement was held on Friday, June 5, 2026.

According to Obi, expanding health insurance coverage across Nigeria remains a critical healthcare priority. He stressed the need to strengthen primary healthcare centres in electoral wards nationwide, increase the training of healthcare professionals, and guarantee affordable, quality healthcare services for all Nigerians.
